Costa del Sol
Málaga
The region's cultural capital: museums, rooftops and a serious food city.
Málaga has changed more in the last fifteen years than any city in southern Spain. The Picasso museum, the Centre Pompidou outpost, the Soho district and a rebuilt port have turned a place people flew into on their way somewhere else into a destination in its own right.
The food is serious: century-old bodegas, market cooking at Atarazanas, and a growing group of ambitious kitchens in the centre and around La Malagueta. The old town is walkable end to end, the airport is fifteen minutes away, and the AVE puts Madrid two and a half hours from the centre.
Málaga listings in this guide cover dining, culture-led experiences, photography and the professional services used by residents of the city.
