Benahavís sits in the hills above the coast, ten minutes inland from Marbella but a different world in temperature and pace. The village has more restaurants per resident than almost anywhere in Andalusia, which is how it earned its reputation as the dining room of the Costa del Sol.
Around it are the river valleys of the Guadalmina and Guadalmansa, the La Zagaleta and Los Arqueros estates, and finca country that suits private events better than anything on the seafront. Evenings are cooler than the coast, which matters in July and August.
